John Hammock is the co-founder of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), University of Oxford, and Chair of SOPHIA Oxford, focused on the application of the Multidimensional Poverty Index at the global, national, and corporate levels.  Dr. Hammock was an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Fletcher School at Tufts University. He was the founder of the Feinstein International Famine Center at Tufts University. Dr. Hammock was President of Oxfam America for eleven years and served as Executive Director of ACCION International. He has co-authored Practical Idealists: Changing the World and Getting Paid. He holds a doctoral degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Denison University.  He was born in Havana, Cuba. He has two daughters and three grandchildren living in America.
